You will be hated by all because of my name,
but whoever endures to the end will be saved.
When they persecute you in one town, flee to another.
Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the towns of Israel
before the Son of Man comes.”
Today’s readings talk about endurance and perseverance of our Faith. Faith is not a product or one-time activity but a lived process of life. The Faith is a gift of God and the fruit of the Holy spirit. God draws his People through his mercy towards his son Jesus Christ and Jesus reveals holy Spirit. The grace of the Holy spirit create a relationship of trust and hope with the Father. This relationship is Faith. People encounter God in many ways and it is a gift of God to People. The encounter of God’s love is free sample experience from our Father. He takes the first step ,in search of us and gives us holy Spirit. We get the Salvation Experience but not saved from our full life. To achieve the Salvation in witness, we need to witness our Faith. This witnessing happens in the field and not in the Aisles of the Church gathering on Sundays or Prayer meetings or conferences. This happens in our day today life in our families, work places and the society. We need to Witness boldly in these places what we believe and for this we require solid Faith ,Hope & Love. We cannot witness in our own strength but from the power from above. When we till the ground of truth and sow the seeds of righteousness, God will rain the holy spirit to sprout the seeds and transforms our work in to his ministry. This is a Work of God and we must behave like workers in the Farming Land in Faith, Love and Hope and the rest left to him to do the rest.
In this journey there will be persecutions, disappointments, betrayal and all things the world, flesh and evil challenge us to block our journey of faith. The person who wears the Helmet of Salvation(Faith), belt of Truth(hope), breastplate of righteousness ( love), Shoes of peace( Love) and sword of the Spirit (evangelisation) can endure all the darts of the Evil , World and flesh and persevere to the End of our life to receive the throne of our glory eternal life.
Jacob in the first reading went through similar kind of journey in his life and God was with him to protect him, guide him, deliver him and bless him in abundance of life. Through Jacob’s faith & obedience in God, he blesses whole of his descendants and transform them in to a ministry of chosen people as Israel. Let us trust God in our lives and become witnesses for him in our life so that our Children and the work of our hand transformed in to a ministry for Christ. The great saints and even our ancestors witnessed for this faith and became immortal in their works and left behind a passed-on Faith which we enjoy in our lives today. Let us pass on this Faith to our next generation as a gift to them.
