USCCB Podcast of the Readings:

A life in the Spirit is to listen to the Words of the spirit

Whenever the cloud rose from the Dwelling,
the children of Israel would set out on their journey.
But if the cloud did not lift, they would not go forward;
only when it lifted did they go forward.
In the daytime the cloud of the LORD was seen over the Dwelling;
whereas at night, fire was seen in the cloud
by the whole house of Israel
in all the stages of their journey.

God’s Commandments are life and Spirit. Anyone dwells in the obedience of these Words, lives in the grace and protection of God. A person who listens to the words of God and follows them closely do not panic or despair in the time of trials, challenges or famine because God is with them.  This is the story of the Israelites in the old testament. God was guiding them step by step through glory of God.

Today’s World offers many things in our life but we need to discern whether these very Worldly things are aligned to God’s Word or for our or to the good of the World. The entire Commandments and teachings of the Church consist the fullness of God’s goodness in this World. If anything, contrary to the Gospel and the Church is Contrary to the goodness of life. I have not come across anything which is good and it is not there in the Gospel or of the Church. The Church always is a travelling church and changes the teachings according to the Words and inspiration of God. The Church is not an individual but body of multitude of People of God. In the old testament Moses was the leader and all the elders and zealous youngsters like Joshua were the Community of God. The church represents the ark of the Covenant and the Church elders like priests, Pastors, Practicing Christians become the elders in the Community. Pope is supposed to be Moses who is the first person to discern and approve the teachings of the present age.  Today there are many Churches of God so whom we can compare Moses with, can it be Catholic Church? I do not know but Catholic Church is the preserver of the Word of God and its holiness and Synods are met every time to change the teachings and perception on the word of God and its implication on Worldly matters. There are other Churches which are more Evangelical and descriptive and follow the Spirit of God in inspiration and in action. To discern the Spirit of God or what is right and wrong in the new teachings in the churches we require both old and new testament teachings. These teachings act like a checkmate or a mirror to look at the present teaching and its authenticity.

Why we need religion or a way of life of the old and live like fanatics of the teachings of the old or new. We need the teachings of the old and new to measure our values like a measuring stone and apply those values in our present life . The Israelites could see the guidance and protection through the Glory of God in the form of a cloud over the Ark of God with the Two Tablets of the Words of God. Today we see the glory of God in our day today activities when we adhere to the God’s Community with the Word of God which guides us and protects us in our very routines of life.

We need to pick the activities which support the Words of God or spirit of God or love God and anything other than this is not from God and there is no god’s protection or guidance. Most of the Constitutions and rules were designed according to the Moral values of the old and new. When we follow these civil laws designed on the Values of God and use them in our daily life to resist the evil, God comes to our guidance and protection. Any man-made Laws or religions which do not contain the portion of values of love go against the Law of God and comes in to destruction. How much good or learned or self-disciplined or Corporate they may look like but  in God’s point of View they are  all rubbish and filth.
