Be vigilant at all time and pray,
that you may have the strength to stand before the Son of Man

Today’s readings call us to holiness so that we may be in the presence of Lord at all the time. Holiness is not a virtue which we can inherit or develop but a constant decision to stay close to God by following his Words and imitating him in action.  Holiness is not one-time experience but a constant activity. A holy person of today can become unholy with in no time, so it is a constant decision  to remain without sin.

Many people get a conversion experience through different intervention of Jesus in their life and get transformed and gifted with the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is the Walking stick which we need to cling upon all the time. Holy Spirit keeps us close to Jesus in Words and action. This is called life in the Spirit.

Man is formed in the image of God and this image of God is Holiness. Man has lost his holiness by sinning against God. Jesus Christ came in to this World to sanctify the human by offering a Sin offering, the death on the Cross and make the human holy and recover the lost image of God. Jesus converts a person through his Passion and death and  puts his spirit of holiness in him and becomes one with the human. Jesus marries the human and becomes one with him in body, mind and spirit. This transformed person does not follow the World or evil but follow the Spirit of Jesus by words and deeds. This is called holiness.

To remain in holiness, we need to go through spiritual exercise daily. One of the main exercise is to spend time with Jesus and build up a very personal relationship which we call personal prayer. This personal prayer unites us to God and the God’s holiness flows in to our body, mind and soul and we slowly transform in to the image of God.  In the Worldly marriages there is a saying, a couple after living together for 40 years look like brother and sister or of the same image. In the Spiritual marriage, also when we get married to Jesus and live together with him all the time we look like his brothers and sisters or in his image of holiness. This same spiritual exercise we can do , if we see Jesus in our neighbour and love him and be one with him. This forms a holy Community of People the Church.

Today’s readings call us to remain in him all the time and be away from the World and Evil. The World and Sin takes us away from the presence of God and holiness. Jesus is the head of our bodies so let us be faithful to him who is our bridegroom. Our only faithfulness is to remain holy throughout our life. This holiness will lead us directly to heaven the everlasting presence of God. The angels and saints could not stand or face the holiness of God. The feeling of unworthiness was on every creature’s face when they encountered God.

From the foundation of the earth, God is calling the man to be holy but man in is on the run, away from God and sinning against God. He sent Kings, Prophets, Holmen and Women and finally he himself came in to this Earth and became man to invite us to live a life of God the Holiness.  Today God is calling you and me to walk in his ways of holiness.  Let us embrace him as our bridegroom and Brother and be one with him in prayer and in charity.
