Monday of the 22nd Week in Ordinary Time
September 4, 2017
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.
Today’s readings give hope to the people who have lost hope in their lives. Many people are oppressed and made captives in different forces of evil. Jesus says he gives true freedom and liberty to the oppressed and people who are in captivity.
Man was created in free will with full freedom and liberty. This was the plan of God. When Sin and Evil entered the mankind, the freedom and liberty was lost and people were caught in the Captivity of Sinful Bondages and lost the liberty of their life. They became poor and could not carry on the free will of God. These people lost all hope on God and remained in slavery of Sin for thousands of years. Now Prophet Isiah prophesies about the messiah who will free these people from the bondage of sin and there will be true freedom and full of hope and liberty. There will be Lord’s year of favour and grace.
Jesus comes to his own people and stands as a Messiah but his own people rejected him and ridiculed him and tried to kill him. Jesus points out to the blindness of the people who were not open to understand the mysteries of God. These people were blind folded and in captivity of false teachings ,that they could not recognise the author of their life.
Jesus is the Lord of all, the living and dead and he is going to judge all people at the end of this age and those days all will be brothers and sisters in the Kingdom of God. The people who died in the presence of Jesus live forever. Christians do not die but will be raised with Jesus in to his resurrected body and live in their spiritual body. We living people call them dead but actually they are living more than us. This is the beauty of Christian living. A true Christian do not die in spirit. We must rejoice for all the people who have died in our families and celebrate a Memorial Day or feast day in remembrance of their shared life with us. Also we must hope for a day, when all of us are going to join them to praise our eternal Father in heaven.
The people who die with Jesus has full of hope and a guarantee of eternal life but the people who are still in the Captivity of Sin and evil and prefer to live in a state of oppression and poverty and die in that state of no hope cannot experience the everlasting life because the light came in to this World and shined like bright Sun but people preferred darkness and hard heartedness to refuse the good news. To refuse the Gospel itself is the greatest Sin on this earth. People do it ignorantly and unknowingly but there is no exemption on the Judgement day because all the Weeds will be collected and thrown in the fire. There will be wailing and Weeping of their ignorance and blindness but it is too late for them to repent and believe in Jesus Christ.
Let us today examine our life, are we by any chance in this category of people? Dear friends this is a very frightening state of life and must pray for all the dead who were not fully with Jesus to cleanse them and accept them in to the Kingdom of God. God is merciful but also a God of justice. If someone rejects the spirit of God repeatedly and ridicule him and accept the Evil spirit as their master and live in it’s inspiration in this World and die in Sin and Evil , I do not know but as per the Word of God , this soul will not possess the presence of God but remain in the everlasting absence of God because God is Holy and Evil cannot remain in the presence of God. We can not say this as a punishment of God but this is the state chosen by our self by our free will, not once but through out our life, repeatedly rejecting the prompting of the Holy Spirit in our heart and rejecting the Word of God and disobeying the true traditions of families and the Society. God knows only to love, he sends his messengers till our last breath to reconcile and repent but if we choose to be stubborn in our pride , God pities these soul and bleeds and finally dies for these souls. There is nothing else can be done to save these souls than to give his last drop of blood the unconditional and everlasting love of God.
