Wednesday of the 22nd Week in Ordinary Time
September 6, 2017
Simon’s mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever,
and they interceded with him about her.
He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her.
She got up immediately and waited on them.
Today’s readings tell how important it is to spread the Gospel around the World. The Gospel can be preached in many ways. We can put following common ways to preach the Gospel with in our boundaries of life.
- By Examples – lived life.
- Preaching the Word of God
- By Signs & Wonders
- By Forming a Community
1.The ministry of intercession is very important for evangelisation and the best way of evangelisation in the background, many saints like St. Theresa of Child Jesus initiated this kind of ministry and became a great Saint by just working in the Kitchen and interceding for the Sinners of the Whole World by prayer and fast.
2.The lived life is the best of the evangelisation and not optional but every Christian must be an Example by deeds and words.
3.Preaching the word of God is the gift of the Holy Spirit , every Baptised Christian cannot keep quiet on what God has done and his love and wants to talk about him to the Whole World. This is an automatic process and the proof that the Holy Spirit lives in our soul. This is a gift of inheritance of God’s Kingdom. Every citizen of Heaven proclaims the kingdom of heaven to the Whole World.
- Signs & Wonders are again gifts of the Holy spirit given to every Christian to proclaim and build the Kingdom of God. These gifts are given freely because we received them freely and they are gifts. Today’s Gospel Jesus uses these gifts of healing and deliverance and proclaims the Kingdom of God. These miracles are an invitation or foretaste of the Kingdom of God and not heaven by itself. So if someone has these gifts, there is no guarantee of their Salvation or the person who has experienced these miracles. The miracles and miracle makers are invitation and inviters to the kingdom of God.
- Formation of the Community: Jesus formed a community of disciples, St. Paul formed small Christian Churches and encouraged them, all saints and holy men and Women formed the communities and passed on the Gospel to second and generations to come. This is best and most required form of evangelisation and Church today. Today we have Catholic Church
and does this Work of Evangelisation generation to generation. These are works of the Holy Spirit.
Do we fall any one of the above ministries? Do we serve in our local Churches as ministers in any of the Capacity? If our answer is yes then we are Evangelisers or do God’s Business on this Earth. All sons and daughters of God must and will proclaim the Gospel. This is not an option but compulsory. If we are not any one of these ministries, today let us take time and plan our spiritual life and involve in one of this ministry. We will pray for you day & night in our ministry of intercession.
