  1. (8) In God is my safety and my glory.
    Only in God be at rest, my soul,
    for from him comes my hope.
    He only is my rock and my salvation,
    my stronghold; I shall not be disturbed.
    R. In God is my safety and my glory.
    Trust in him at all times, O my people!
    Pour out your hearts before him;
    God is our refuge!
    R.In God is my safety and my glory.

Today’s Readings bring hope to the hopeless and destitute. Jesus is the only hope and rest to our soul. This rest is the Sabbath on this Earth. Jesus cures a person whose right hand was withered or of no strength and was suffering from all possible afflictions. Sabbath is to rest in God and this man was afflicted due to his paralysed hand and was not able lift it to give glory to God. Jesus cures his hand and restores his strength.  Now Pharisees look at the Sabbath in a different context, they look at in obedience to the set law but miss the main point of Sabbath, that is to rest in God. All souls are made to rest in God and  there is no peace to any of the soul apart from God. Jesus is that awaited peace, healing, strength and rest of every soul. When People experience Jesus or his Words, they feel satisfied and they want to live in that experience for ever. St. Paul preached Jesus to the Gentiles and suffered greatly to form the Community of Christ upon this Earth. He rejoiced in his suffering because he knew his suffering worth the price to build the Kingdom of God. This was his peace and rested in Jesus despite being scourged or in prison and wrote these beautiful letters in the state of suffering .

When we rest in God, all our problems, sicknesses, protection, providence will be in his care. We become the guests of his Kingdom and glory. It is a spiritual Holiday to our soul, mind and Body. This is the real meaning of Sabbath. Let us rest in him every moment of our life and he will strengthen us in body, mind and spirit. When we are resting with him in his presence by obedience to his Word, in love, in sacrifice and in Worship we experience the achievement or satisfaction of our life where no Business tycoons or Visionaries can experience. Sometimes there are challenges and priorities to rest in his Word but believe me he will take care of you fully if we completely obedient or rest in the Word of God and the Church his Body.

 Sunday or sabbath Day has been declared as a day to rest in God by Moses due to the hard heartedness of People and the Church has followed it  but how it has been observed by people of God is a big question to every Christian. Even if it is followed how it has been lived in rest of the Week is another question. Sabbath is to rest in God all the time of our life.
